Sears Canada Inc. (TSX:SCC) has unveiled its latest concept in Sears Home stores at Pinecrest Shopping Centre, with a 78,000 square-foot location - the largest Sears Home store in Canada.
This store features an exciting emphasis on products and services including the largest Major Appliance and Mattress shop of any Sears location. There is an expanded selection of accent furniture, chairs, and tables as well as the introduction of Jane by Jane Lockhart, an innovative new line of furniture with eight distinct collections that present an infallible approach to design. Customers have the opportunity to design their own custom furniture using the Jane Lockhart selection of colours and fabrics, and the products are 100% Canadian.
Sears Home also offers all installed home services including custom window coverings, roofing, doors, windows, furnaces and central air conditioners.
With Calvin McDonald, President and CEO, Sears Canada, and Rick Chiarelli, Ottawa Ward 8 City Councillor present, Acting Store Manager Ben Weiss cut the ribbon to celebrate today's opening. Mr. Weiss also presented a $10,000 donation on behalf of Sears Canada to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ottawa (BGCO), the store's local community partner. In addition to the cheque, the store is donating floor stock from the Company's former location including appliances, electronics, furniture and mattresses, to BGCO. The approximate retail value of this donation is $130,000. These items will be used to help furnish various Ottawa region clubs and Camp Smitty, the BGCO's camp near Eganville, Ontario. Remaining items will be auctioned off as part of BGCO's 20th annual "Awesome Auction" to help raise needed funds for ongoing programming and local clubs.
"The opening of the Sears Home store at Pinecrest is another in a series of transformational milestones for Sears Canada," said Mr. McDonald. "We work for Canadian families and we believe we have a product offering in this location that presents the best of what Sears has to offer in appliances, mattresses, home furnishings and installed home services. Coupled with our renewed commitment to customer service, Ottawa area customers will have a Sears experience like no other in the country."
"We have a very special day planned for our customers on Saturday, June 23," added Mr. Weiss. "The celebrations begin right away from our store opening at 9:00 a.m. featuring giveaways for the first 50 customers, draws for prizes from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and a special appearance by award-winning Interior Designer, author and television personality, Jane Lockhart. Jane will host two home design presentations, at 11:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m., and she will offer mini-consultations for interested shoppers following her presentations."

Premiere Adirondack Chairs Promotes Lloyd Flanders Wicker Furniture as Patio Furniture for All Seasons - YAHOO!
Premiere Adirondack Chairs is offering more Lloyd Flanders Patio Furniture than ever, given customer demand for the highly-durable wicker outdoor furniture.
Natick, MA (PRWEB) June 21, 2012
Premiere Adirondack Chairs, a leading online patio furniture retailer, is promoting its collection of Lloyd Flanders Wicker Patio Furniture as a brand committed to superior durability in harsh weather.Knowing that the Michigan-based manufacturer creates all-weather wicker outdoor furniture products that resist effects of moisture, heat and sun, Premiere Adirondack Chairs CEO Doug Hopeman greatly increased the company’s Lloyd Flanders inventory this spring in order to give customers longer –lasting patio furniture options.
“We’ve had great success offering the Lloyd Flanders brand in the past, because customers appreciate their approach to constructing wicker furniture,” Hopeman said.
Lloyd Flanders, which was founded in the early 20th century, uses the same wicker loom it’s used since the 1920s to construct its furniture. The woven wicker frames are reinforced with metal and coated with a melamine mixture to ensure stability and a durable finish.
Not only are Lloyd Flanders wicker chairs, tables, sofas, and loveseats sturdy: They also offer shoppers huge color variety. Many seating options come with thick patio cushions, which customers can order in their favorite among a large swatch of patterns and colors. Throw pillows in assorted fabrics can also be added to any set.
In addition to standard patio lounge and dining sets, Lloyd Flanders offers luxury pieces, like wicker chaise lounges and large ottomans, and accent pieces, like patio end tables. Collections include Grand Traverse, Contempo, Reflections, and Hamptons, to name just a few.
The Lloyd Flanders expansion is part of a site-wide strategy to increase patio furniture options for shoppers, for the most complete shopping experience on the Internet. The company continues to focus on its signature product, Adirondack furniture, while also offering wood, metal, resin, wrought iron and wicker patio furniture.
Premiere Adirondack Chairs is a leading online patio furniture retailer based in Natick, Mass. The company, founded in 2008, offers all types of patio furniture and accessories, with Adirondack furniture as its signature product.

Hands-on with Ikea's Uppleva smart-TV-furniture-combo - PC Advisor
Back in April, Ikea announced it was going to produce furniture in its Uppleva range that included a built-in smart TV, speakers and even DVD or Blu-ray players. It's not due in the UK until later this year, but our colleagues at M3 in Sweden have got their hands on one - and the results are less than impressive.
The overarching goal of the Uppleva (Swedish for "experience") line is not only simplicity but the desire to eliminate "cord clutter," based on the responses to an Ikea-sponsored survey conducted this year that revealed what people dislike most about electronics.
The television and other electronics will be made by Chinese manufacturer TCL and include a single remote control for all the devices. This is to address the survey result that found that 60 per cent of respondents have between three and four remote control devices at home.
The Uppleva (Swedish for "experience") line will offer choices of HD LED TV sizes ranging from 24 to 46 inches, and in a variety of colours. It will also include Wi-Fi, USB ports for music players, and space for game consoles. The company is planning to launch in Sweden, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, and Portugal in the fall, with a worldwide rollout in spring 2013.
This concept harkens back to the 50s and 60s, when audio-video equipment was always integrated into furniture - though it will arrive in Ikea's traditional flat-pack packaging.
According to our colleagues, the Uppleva's main failing is the mediocre TV - which isn't as good as you'd expect for the price and has a menu system that attempts to mimic Ikea's functional aesthetic but comes off nearer to the kind of system you'd expect in an Asda own-brand Freeview box.
If you speak Swedish, we'd recommend watching M3's Uppleva video reviews.

Furniture.as: The New Face of Online Furniture Shopping - PRLog (free press release)
Furniture.as is an increasingly popular one-stop online furniture shopping destination.
The store boasts of an impressive offering of outdoor furniture, including the otherwise hard to find authentic wicker and rattan furniture. The online store’s simple design belies its rather rich inventory.
Other remarkable offerings at Furniture.as include light oak furniture, ordinary oak furniture, rustic pine furniture, mirrored furniture and resin patio furniture, to name but a few.
At Furniture.as, we have it as our objective to make online furniture shopping fun for members of the general public. There is hardly any other furniture shop online at the moment capable of competing with Furniture.as in terms of inventory. To be sure, some of the items to be found at furniture.as turn out to be pretty much the furniture items sold in local furniture stores. But then, the store also has an enviable offering of distinctive, and truly hard-to-find furniture items.
Among the distinctive, hard-to-find furniture items you can buy at Furniture.as are (real) shaker furniture items, genuine rustic log furniture items, authentic wine barrel furniture as well as authentic Tuscan and Moroccan furniture pieces.
Another thing that sets furniture.as aside from the average furniture shop online is the fact that besides selling the various distinctive furniture items, furniture.as also sells a wide variety of furniture accessories. Among those are wicker furniture cushions, to go with the wicker furniture items that are amongst Furniture.as’
Furniture.as can be conceptualized as an online furniture bazaar of sorts. It is the new face of online furniture shopping: where people get the chance to buy all furniture items they need in one site. This is as opposed to the traditional arrangement, where people have had to get the various pieces of furniture they needed from a wide variety of stores, in the process incurring heavy shipping fees.
Remarkably too, Furniture.as runs ‘sales’ from time to time: these being ‘sales’ where customers get a chance to buy furniture items at highly discounted prices. It is, for instance, currently running a mirrored furniture sale, where customers get a chance to buy mirrored furniture at prices far below the ‘going rates.’
Furniture.as also makes for a fantastic place to go shopping for entryway furniture and outdoor furniture online.
